what type of doc would i see?

Hey there ladies i need to know what type of Doctor would i see for Adult ADD? thanks

i think you need to see your pcp first for a prognosis.  if the prognosis is adult ADD he or she will probably give you direction from there ... most likely refer you to a colleague that has studied adult add deeply.  as far as i know there aren't any specialists for ADD but i do know that sometimes a doctor will refer a patient to a counselor.  maybe a counselor can offer methods for controlling it or something ... i'm not sure, but i do know they go route sometimes.  so you should probably just speak with your primary doctor and go from there.

You will need to either see a Clinical Psychologist or Psychiatrist.  Psychologists can NOT prescribe medication but are more highly trained in psychotherapy than Psychiatrists.

Your family doctor should be able to do a brief assessment and prescribe meds. If you really want to have a good, full evaluation, you need to see a psychologist.

I know i had ADD as a kid so i am pretty sure i still have it and i want to go back to school so i will probably need to take something to help me concentrate. Thank you all for your advice
