my first I had my period by 6 weeks, my second at 12 months and my 3rd at 11 months.. and yep you can get pregnanat while nuring.. I did! People always think its birth control while in reality is only a fairly effective method in the first 6 months and only if baby id EXCLUSIVLY nursed on demand (no solids, no bottles, no pacifier, no scheduled feedings or cry it out methods used, etc...)
Be careful if you are breastfeeding. Many people say you won't ovulate and therefore won't get your period for months. When my daughter was 8 weeks my milk supply disappeared even though I was feeding what seemed to be around the clock. 4 weeks later I got what I thought was a very heavy period, but after 2 weeks of bleeding, discovered was actuall a miscarriage.
You can get pregnant before you get your period, even if you are very safe!
I would talk to your doctor because everyone's body is different and one woman's experience doesn't mirror the next.
You should have about 4-6 weeks of postpartum bleeding before you begin a regular cycle. Usually a period should come about 10 weeks after delivery. A major factor would be whether or not you are breastfeeding. If you are nursing full time (without supplements) you will most likely not experience menustration for about 6 months or longer.
I had my son in April and I had my first period in July but my periods where all over the place, I had them twice in the one month. Just give your body time to get over the birth.
