Everyone responds to birth control differently.  There isn't a *perfect* one to regulate your period.  Unfortunatly, you may have to experiment some til you find one that works well.

Don't go with a low dose pill, those seem to cause nothing but problems as they are not strong enough. many women complain of breakthrough bleeding on low dose pills, so this is really not the pill for you.  If you want to regulate periods, you need a regular pill like Tricyclen or Triphasil.

I had my period non-stop for months pretty much and was put on Yasmin.  Just go to your gyno and talk with them about it, they'll find one that works for you.

does low dose means small pills and high dose means large pills?

no, the pills should be the same size. there is tricyclen, and tricyclen-lo.  the low pills contain one less hormone, I can't remember which one it is. but low dose pills should have 'lo' or 'low' in the name.

I really liked Yasmin. I had problems with my cycle, so I would take 3-4 months continuously and then break for a period. Whether I broke monthly like the first year I was on it or every 3-4 months for the next three years I was on it, I really liked Yasmin. Additionally, it is supposed to prevent you from gaining weight, which is a huge perk. Unfortunately, I gained 15 pounds on the bc that I was on before switching to Yasmin. Bummer!
