why burning?8

I have had a burning vagina for past 3 weeks following protected sex. I have been tested for sti which have come back negative. I haven't noticed any sores or blisters but the burning continued and I have had periods of itchiness as well. O tested negative for thrush and uti about 10 days after sex. I have posted this question on the herpes forum but they say it doesn't sound like herpes so I'm putting it on here. I started myself on canestan pessary yesterday due to itching and prickly sensation in vagina but hasn't eased symptoms yet. The last day or so I have been getting tingling in my thighs. What could this be causing the burning and will it ever end?

Did they test for a yeast infection?  Those itch like crazy, and they occasionally come without the classic "cottage cheese" discharge (both of mine were like that).  It sounds like a long time frame for an allergic reaction, which would be my other first guess for itchy.  Which STIs did they test for?  They don't always test for everything.  You should definitely see a doctor again, since it's not getting better, preferably someone in ob/gyn.  If it's been 3 weeks, I doubt it will go away on its own.  If money is an issue, a lot of cities have sexual health clinics with sliding scale fees (Planned Parenthood or sometimes big hospitals have clinics like this), especially if you're under 21.

Tested negative for yeast infection. Was tested for all sti inc herpes through vaginal swab and blood tests, both negative. Would herpes burn for this long?

Do you have any bulge or feeling of fullness in your vagina?  Just to rule out any possible prolapse issues.

Is the burning at the entrance of your vagina?  Burning at the entrance especially after sex can be vulval dermatitis, vestibulitis or vulvadynia ( not sure of the spelling for this one).  I have all of these and have had vulval skin problems for a long time.  You may need to go to a specialist if you feel this may be the problem and your tests for infection prove negative.

I hope you feel better soon.  Come back and let us know how you get on and consider putting your message on the Womens health forum.
