My 78 yr old grandma has itchy, stinging knots on her labia.  Swollen and driving her nuts. Worse when she lies down. Used cream from doc, worked but stretched her labia.  Found out she's allergic to polyethylene glycol, can't use anything with that in it.  Has had antibiotics too.  Doc told her to use coconut oil because it has anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties.  It's not ingrown hair or allergies to soap etc.  Help.....

I thought about it but she hasn't been active for over 10 years.   Probably will have to seek another doc.   Thanks.

Yeah, I don't know if herpes can travel but it would definitely be worth while to get an STD test if she was possibly active. Can't hurt. If all else fails, switch dr's. No reason for her to be in pain.

Thanks for responding.  You know we have considered this.  She was in a nursing home/rehab facility @ a year ago.  She got a cold sore on her lip @ 5 years ago and of course the doc told her it was herpes simplex 1 or 2, can't remember which, but could it be that it travels?  Sounds kinda weird I know, but we are at our wits end.  There's no reason she should have to live like this and the docs aren't helping.

It may sound like an odd question, but could your grandmother have an STD? Std rates have been on the rise in nursing homes and elderly communities so it could be something to rule out.
