yeast infection

Hello,

I need help!! I have been having a reoccuring yeast infection.  My doctor has prescribed mycolog ointment several times.  It clears up then comes back.  I do not know if my boyfriend is passing it back to me because generally it comes back after having intercourse.  Is there any medicine for men having a yeast infection is it possible.  He feels silly going to the doctor for that.  I have tried getting him the monistat one day treatment but dont think it made any difference.  He is uncircumsized and thought he had some yeast but wasnt sure.
The only change I have had is getting an IUD inserted.  I am very confused and concerned as to what the cause can be.  My doctor just keeps prescribing me this cream but I dont know what to do.  Someone told me to take Lactobiculus from a health food store and eat yogurt.  Should I get another doctor and if so how do I really get through to get them to do the correct  testing.  She took some cultures for STDs which were negative.  I feel she is annoyed with me coming in so often for the same problem.  I am fairly new to this town and dont know how to find an OB doc I am comfortable with.  I have already spent loads of money going to her but am not satisfied with my results.  She is rushing in and out of the office and doesnt take time to answer my question but I am on my second OB doc and feel very shy to express my full concern and it is also hard when the doc is rushing me.  Please give me any suggestions I would really appreciate it.

I dealt with the same issue for many years, about ages 22-28. Every time I had sex, or even masterbated, I would get what I thought was a yeast infection. Monistat always worked to cure it, but made it very stressful having to use it every single time. After many different dr appointments about it, I went in while experiencing an infection and they took a sample to test for what kind/strand of yeast I had. To both our surprise, it came back that there was no yeast present at all! What I can chalk it up to is irritation from your own fluid. To help, cleanse or use a wipe before and after sex, ALWAYS be taking a daily probiotic (ph balance is key), and use a vagisil-type cream after intercourse to stop the irritation from spreading and possibly becoming an infection. Changing your diet to lessen bread/carbs and increase veggies/nuts/lean protein will do wonders. And also unfortunately it's a lot to do with hormones. Mine finally have seemed to balance out after years of having this issue, so don't give up hope. Eat better, take probiotics, maintain sanitary health and use the cream after intercourse! Also ask your doctor to do a yeast lab test to see if/which strands you have, as different strands can be tackled in different ways to be most effective.

Yes - your boyfriend should go to the dr.  Condom use might also help the situation.

You might also want to investigate chronic candidiasis on the internet since your situation is chronic

I also agree you should try yogurt and probiotics.  Culturelle is a brand of lactobacillus you can get at a drugstore.  It's on the expensive side, but if you order online through Vitacost dot com or drugstore dot com you can get it cheaper.  But that's only one brand... there are plenty to choose from.

Finally, in general my recommendation is to up your vitamin / mineral intake so that your immune system is in better shape to fight.  This is what worked for me personally when I had recurrent colds, yeast infections, and bladder infections.  So I can only speak from my experience; I know everyone is different and it is indeed an investment to buy supplements.  I find that angstrom silver and angstrom germanium are very helpful; these can be found at sunfood dot com and again, they are an investment but you only need a few drops since the minerals are suspended in water ... they tend to last a long time.

First thing I would do is have your boyfriend go to the doctors to get checked out....  Tell him don't feel silly..... Tell him you will not give him anything until he goes to the doctors cause that is what happened to me and my husband I kept getting yeast off and on and I made my husband go and we were giving it back and fourth.......He might not have it but you never know...GOOD LUCK
