And that's fine.
I understand the not wanting her to know.
As you get older though, it can really help in case of an emergency or if something like this but more serious happens, if she knows that you are sexually active.

The swelling is usually just due to itching.
And the itching, swelling, pain, are basically the recipe for yeast infections and BV's.elp
And that's good, I hope she took it well.
If this experience has helped opened your eyes to the effects of unprotected sex, then maybe you should also try and discuss with her about getting birth control.
Birth control also has many other benefits besides pregnancy protection. They can also help protect from STDs and STIs, less pain from period cramps, shorten and lessen your periods, lessen fatigue during your period, help with mood swings during your period, and help keep it regular.
So there are MANY reasons why young women would want to use birth control besides protection during sex.

I'm like 99.9% sure it's just a yeast infection or BV.
If you're stressing that it might be a STD or STI, I highly doubt it.

You're very welcome! :)
It was hard for me to deal with too because of my parents not finding out. So I've been there.
Feel free to add me or msg me if there's anything else I might be able to help you with!

If they do ask it, you can just say no.
They will still prescribe the antibiotics if they find that you have BV.

The doctor will not be able to know what you got it from. At all.
The only way my boyfriend and I discovered it was because I would only get the infection back right after we had sex.
So don't worry about the doctor telling you that.
Also, doctors will not ask if you are sexually active if your parents are there when you are underage.
With yeast infections and BV's, doctors rarely ask it anyways.
So don't worry about the doctor asking that either.

Regardless of what you, your mom, or your doctor think caused the infection, you doctor will still prescribe the same antibiotics.
If you stick to the antibiotic instructions and take them for the ten days or so, you should be good :)
However, like I said, there have been many cases (including when I got BV) where the guy was the one who was introducing the bacteria into the vagina. When this happened with me, my boyfriend had to go on the antibiotics as well so the infection would stop for good. And I was in the same boat as you, my parents could not find out that I was having sex.
Hopefully though that's not the case for you, and the antibiotics will clear it all up for you!
I know the pain and itch ***** :(

Like I posted early, you can get a yeast infection or even BV from a multitude of things. Many dealing with bad hygeine. It's very common for non-sexually active women to get it. So don't feel any shame telling your mom you might think you have one, because sex is NOT the only thing you can get it from.

Then it's probably not a yeast infection. And if it's BV, you need to get in to see the doctor to get antibiotics. It will NOT go away on it's own.
It's the only way.

Yes, it's an infection that can only be cured with antibiotcis from your doctor.
You can get it from bad hygeine, not wiping the correct way, not changing your underwear enough, sex, and even using a body wash or lotion that doesn't agree with your body well.
If you are sexual active, many people with BV have found that it was their partner who was continuly introducing the bacteria into their vagina, and that's why antibiotics weren't working.
When I had BV, both me and my boyfriend had to go on the antibiotics to get rid of my infection for good.
But I would try to treat for a yeast infection first, just to make sure.

If you go in to like a walmart, there should just be different test by where Vagisil and Mosistat are. They can only tell you if it's not a yeast infection.
If it is BV, you will need to go in to the doctor. Only antibiotics will get rid of it.
