New to group...

I am new to the group.  Just found out I am Vit D deficient - 16.  I am taking 50,000 iu's once per wk for the next 3 months and then go back for a re-check..  Just took my second pill 2 days ago.  First week I thought I felt a little better,  The last two nights have been worse.  The leg cramps have kept me from sleeping much.  My symptoms are: calf, toe, jaw, finger cramping, bone pain, numbness in my feet, balance problems, muscle weakness, tiredness, and depression. I have felt bad for years and stopped complaining about it for a very long time.  Only my husband knows how I have felt.  I'm amazed at how supportive he has stayed.  How long does it take to recover? Thank you in advance for your support. Ev

Thank you so much for the response. I will have to ask about the b12. I don't know if he checked it.  It is just so comforting to know that I am not alone. Although, I wouldn't wish this on anyone!  Thanks again for the response. Evelyn

Welcome to our group.  It takes a while to get back to "normal".  Somewhere in all these posting I linked a study that goes through the average times to have certain symptoms to go away.  The thing is, you didn't get deficient quickly and you won't get completely better quickly.  The first hurdle is getting your number into the optimum range.  50-90ish ng/ml.  That can take time.  Once you make it there you have to stay there. (many doctors take patient's off the rx D2 50,000iu -that is what you are on- and only have them take a low dose supplement.  That doesn't work.)
You will have good days and bad days with no reasons as to why you have one or the other.  Over the long run as your numbers go up and stay up, you will eventually have more good days then bad.
Check out the thread that has people list their symptoms.  It will be a great help.
Hey did your doctor test for B12 defiency.  Some of the symptoms you mention can be attributed to that, too. (I have both VDD and B12 def.)  I am glad your husband has been so supportive.  I wish you a speedy recovery.
