Symptoms worse during the monthly period?

9na
I experience that virtually all of my VDD-symptoms gets far worse around my periods. Anyone else experience this? Is it because of the hormonal changes or what?

Well, I don't think mine has regulated itself yet, but yes, I do feel better most times :)

I think that would explain it - I was quite bad for about 5 days before mine started.

Today, I am feeling absolutely dreadful. I have so much pain in my bones and I am really, really down. Have been so grumpy with my husband and kids. Do symptoms usually get better straight after a period has finished? Please say yes!

I am utterly demoralized tonight, feels like I'm never going to recover :-(

Hm. I guess I can expect my period to start in 3-5 days - maybe that can explain that I'm having some 'off' days? Before yesterday (or was it wednesday?) I was feeling far better than I do now. Hopefully I'll be better again in a week or so, then.

I'm still fluctuating a lot, though - period or not...

Hi ladies,

I am so pleased to have found this thread! I have been having fluctuating symptoms for the last week and this morning had a proper oh-my-god-can't-get-out-of-bed-how-am-I-going-to-cope meltdown.

Anyway, I went to the bathroom and it turns out my period had started (I gave birth 9 weeks ago so wasn't aware that it was coming).

Before I started D therapy (and before my pregnancy), my PMS had gradually become absolutely CHRONIC from ovulation onwards on all levels: cognitive (memory loss, inability to find words, brain fog), emotional (mood swings, severe depression), physical (bloating, sugar cravings, sore breasts).

Not knowing it was related to Vit D deficiency, I was having acupuncture, Chinese medicine, the usual supplements, massage - I even went on Prozac...  ANYTHING to make it stop!

It must be said that what I have experienced in the last week was bad but not AS bad as it was before treatment and was felt more in the muscles and bones and the tiredness than anywhere else... So, I am hoping that I won't go back to the nightmare I was experiencing before (honestly, I was suicidal at times)...

This is actually kind of fun  (haha - not really, but you get it ;) ) - I recognise SO MUCH of what you describe here! The week before my period started was also chaotic. Symptoms coming and going - flaring about as you put it. And it was a real 'downer', because I had started to believe that I was improving - the week or so before this started I was feeling better than I had for quite some time...

Also, I see that I'm often fine in the morning now. Very tired at times, but otherwise not bad (compared to a month or two ago when I woke up and felt like I couldn't get out of bed at times..). I've had the idea to keep a journal to see how I feel and when, but I've never really started..

I'm hoping that I won't have many bad days this time like I did around my last period. So far it seems like it will be easier this time, but last time I actually got worse at the end of it, and also was in really bad shape several days after it was over. Hm. Hope to see some improvement this time ;)

Yes! I think it is because of the hormonal chgs that occur. I just had my first period since starting on d therapy and it was odd.. Seemed like I was taking steps backward in my progress or that it just stopped working. Symptoms started flaring about 1 week before actual period. Also even more hungry than usual during pre-period week. More easily tired to the point of fatigue and we both know letting yourself get tired makes all the syptoms act up. I do notice that I wake up feeling better... But if I do too much the downhill slide is fast. I'm taking hope from the fact that my body is recovering a bit faster. I have a feeling that progress should be measured by how long and how completely my body takes to feel better after the onset of symptoms. Then look at how long before the symptoms rise again. Right now, it's a daily cycle: morning: good... Early afternoon: good... Late afternoon: not good.. Evening : bad
I'm gonna keep a diary of whats going on and look for patterns. I do already notice that recovery is happening faster... But very small increments of improvement. Looking forward to first whole day of good.. Then 2 days... A week! Etc... :)
