What could be the cause?

I read on this site that someone with the same symptoms as I, dry red patches in the groin, non irritating, was likely to be a fungus.  What could be the cause of it?
I used to have a bad red soreness in the same area and it was thought to be caused by too much citrus fruit, like oranges and clementines.  Could this be the same thing?

Dear Dr Kaur

I had pityriasis rosea some years ago, which were round red patches, looking like cigarette burns and there was quite a lot of irritation   This looks more like the remnants of insect bites, in fact I'm wondering if it is just that, although there is no irritation.  They look smooth on the skin  but there is a slight lump feeling on each patch.

Thank you for your attention,

Hello,
It can be pityriasis rosea. Pityriasis rosea is a common human skin disease which presents as numerous patches of pink or red oval rash. The rash may be accompanied by low-grade headache, fever, nausea and fatigue and sometimes by itching. No treatment is usually required. In most patients, the condition lasts only a matter of weeks or months(upto six months)

If the rash persists then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. Other possibilities like psoriasis have to be ruled out then.

I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted if you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
