MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
Protein in the urine  or proteinuria can indicate kidney disease.  Low levels of protein in urine are normal especially in younger people after exercise or activity. However, excessive amounts need further evaluation to rule out any problems with the kidneys.

When both blood and protein are present it often indicates an inflammatory state that is causing the kidneys to have problems. When blood and protein are persistently in the urine, have him evaluated further by a kidney specialist or a nephrologist. A  24 hour urine test may be indicated. Take care and do keep us posted.
