I quit 9 months ago.....

Hi there,

I gave up smoking around one year ago and since then and only now and then in the morning I wake with a really dry throat and a huge lump of phlegm in it. When I clear my throught the phlegm is dark green/brown and has what looks like fresh blood in it and I often wake up and and night have a taste of blood in my mouth....this must happen about once or twice a week. I've been to a doctor and they have sent me to a specialist and have asked for a chest x-ray...I had one about 9 months ago and it was clear...

Should I be worried as I am to be honest?

I don't suffer from anything else just that it feels like I have a lump in my throut sometimes......and the above mentioined. Also my voice is often hoarse and croky in the morning....as if i am still smoking.....and I am 27 years old. The only pain I get is sharp shooting from the left side of my chest and across my upper back where my shoulder blades are.....

Kind Regards

David

OK - Here is my experience...
Age 56, regular smoker - one pack a day since 18 years old.

For three days I smoked six, then four, then two cigarettes. After those last two cigarettes - stopped smoking cold turkey. This was seven days ago.

All I have requested from my smoking spouse and smoking friends, is to clean their ashtrays when they are done smoking. This is working put very well.

Good results - Sleeping so much better. Still using the CPAP for the sleep apnea. Feeling is returning to my hands and feet. Interestingly I am eating less after stopping and have dropped 4 pounds over the past week. I can now smell things again. Somehow, nocturnal erections have returned. Better circulation? My complexion has improved. I have improved stamina.

Strange results - Am finding myself needing 15-30 minute rests throughout the day. At work, I take these rests in my car, packed in the office parking lot. A pain comes and goes in the left part of my chest. Taking a full aspirin each day as a safeguard against heart attack.

Have experienced a slight, dry cough. Am diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Controlled with Metformin. Donated a pint of blood on the day after stopping smoking. My blood sugars have been extremely high. this past week. Found no answers for that.

Hope this may be of interest....

Stopped smoking after 55 years. Had always been in good health - never lost or gained weight. No eye problems, stomach, joint or back problems. Now - I am a total wreck. My left arm, hip and knee hurts. Back hurts. Bloated stomach, almost constant gas pains. Unable to have normal BM, pee pressure very low. Morning sweats. Lower stomach, dull pain which comes and goes. Stopped smoking May 25th, 12 and it seems to get worse everyday.

Ever since I quit smoking 9 months ago I have been sick. I now have metobolic syndrome, A thyroid condition, ulcers, an alergy to aspirin, it seems one thing after another ever since i quit. Has anyone else experienced this ???  Its the worst, plus I think I have gained 10000 pounds NOT due to eating? Just bloated all over, plse.

Thanks,
