Mucus in throat

I have had this problem for over ten years now. I have seen multiple doctors and two specialists to date. I have acid reflux and have been on several different meds for that. One specialist was leaning towards that being the root of the issue. I have been scoped, had a CT of my sinus', and a battery of allergy tests. I have changed my diet to help curve the reflux issue and as a result have cut down the days I take my Zegrid. I have used steroid sprays, allergy meds, and sinus flushes. Nothing has worked. Some days the mucus is so thick I have to clear my throat every 10 seconds. It is so bad on those days it will almost drive me to have a panic attack.
So I decided to try the internet to research and believe there has to be an answer somewhere. I am open to try anything if it will work.

I would like to give you an update on changes I have made and some of the success.
After doing some more research I decided to drastically change my diet to see if that had any effect on my issue. My wife had started a veg/vegan diet. I decided that if indeed it was something I was putting in my body, that was having this reaction, then going to this diet would give me some sort of clue. I started on more of a vegan diet and eliminated all dairy and animal products out.(I cheat every once in a while and get a burger). The very first week of eliminating the dairy everyone around me started asking what I was doing differently because I wasn't clearing my throat nearly as often. I wasn't. If I had to rate the difference with 5 being the worst and clearing my throat every min or so it has dropped to a pretty constant 1. I still feel some mucus in my throat but not as thick or bothersome as when I consumed dairy. I can usually just swallow now and it is ok. I as of the past month have been switching to a raw vegan diet to further my testing. I still have to set up an appointment at the allergist to have food testing done. I know there are days that if the pollen is high and I don't take my zyrtec it gets a little worse.
If you have the same issue I would try cutting the dairy.

In the winter here in the Northwest I have this post nasal drip and I can't clear my throat and I have tried many meds and natural cures and I have finally come to the conclusion that because I like to heat my trailer and keep it warm and don't open windows in the wintertime, it is too dry. I started using a vaporizer yesterday and by mid day my throat was clear.  Also I cut out all milk products which produce mucous due to sugar or lactose so no creamora, cheese, or dairy foods and ate vegies and protein.  Fats make mucous so the meat should be lean and not fried foods.  Potatoes also aren't good because they produce sugar unless it is a natural baked potato. I also found that hot water with lemon juice cleared out any bacteria in the throat. By evening I was almost normal. Sleeping is no problem ever but when I wake up I start over again and I turned on the vaporizer and now it is beginning to clear up.  I am elderly and home 6 days a week so the cause is my environment and poor diet I am sure. Hope this helps you.

Hi,

My son has been experiencing the same thing for four years now.  He is 15.  His ear, nose, throat specialists, Dr. Greek and Dr. Kalkanis in Corona, CA claimed that it must just be anxiety-he originally said it was acid reflux.  My son had septoplasty two years ago.  Interestingly, while he was wrapped up in bandages, the symptoms went away.  When the bandages and stints were removed, the symptoms came right back.

Please let me know if you find an answer.  I will do the same.  You're in our prayers.
