mid back pain

I have a chronic cough, for months and I have back pain, all across about the bra line area. NO, I can't go to the doctor as I don't have a job and don't have insurance. Can you tell me anything about what would cause the pain?

This discussion is related to mid back pain--worried about cancer.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Chronic cough itself can cause chest pains and back aches. It could be due to tuberculosis, smoking, gastric reflux or GERD or asthma and bronchitis. It could also be allergic.
If you also have low grade fever or malaise and fatigue, then you need to test for TB. Take OTC antacids and see if they help reduce the cough. If they do, then it’s due to gastric reflux or GERD. If you are a smoker, you need to give up smoking.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
