Foot Drop

by Susie1002, Nov 06, 2006 12:00AM
It has been 2 plus years since I have had GBS. I am pretty much back to normal with the exception of my right foot. I have foot drop. Is there anything that anyone can recommend to improve this? I plan on going to a chiropractor to see if he can help. As of right now I wear an ankle brace to support my ankle. I don't think my foot drop is as severe as some since I don't have to wear one of those plastic braces, but still need support at the ankle.

A chiropractor is unlikely to get this better.  You should see a neurologist and get an EMG (if you haven't already) to make sure that your foot drop is, in fact, residual from your GBS.  Otherwise, you should talk to a physiatrist or a physical therapist to see what kinds of exercises are helpful in these cases to strengthen the foot.  I believe that with sufficient stimulation, you can "regrow" the nerves to go back to where they need to.
