chronic vertigo since giving birth

by mishy_h, Nov 25, 2006 12:00AM
I had a spinal block when i had my twin boys and a day after giving birth i had a severe migraine and lost a little vision in my left eye..i was unable to go up to the intensive unit to see my boys and they were struggling also..

The headaches were bad and they tried me on caffiene tablets and that helped a little but the vision was still a problem in my left eye,i had never had any problems like this b4 the boys were born.

After a week i came home and the boys were in hospital for 3 months and i was having vertigo every second of the day and i couldnt even get to the hospital to see my babies, and if i did i was crying with discomfort of not seeing  and feeling dizzy.it was horrible.

I had numerous tests while the boys were in hospital hoping someone would cure it b4 the twins came home but sadly that didnt happen and for the next 7 years i have been struggling with the vertigo and eye problems ever since..

My mother came over to my house from 6am to 6pm to help me with the kids and i was still having tests done .

It has now been 7 years and im still the same although im trying to cope with it.My husband had left me recently and my mother got alzheimers so im all alone in this world trying to get through every day with this horrible illness.

I cant work with this but the welfare agency in australia is forcing all single mothers to work or they cut our money off..

How can i work with this?

I have blamed all this on the spinal block i had and now my life has been ruined..my family split up and im only 32

Has anyone else had anything similiar to this?

Well, what do the doctors say is the cause of your vertigo after all these years?  Is your vision still blurred or was that just fleeting?  If your vertigo is that disabling and you are unable to work then can't you get the doctors to give you a probable diagnosis so that instead of welfare you would be able to collect some type of disability payments from the government?  I don't know what else to tell you, just that I am sorry for your situation.

Yeah i still do have partial vision in my left eye and the vertigo is still always there..I have had so many tests done and nothing ever shows up,they put it down as a vestibular migraine but how can u have a constant migraine for 7 years..

I have learned to cope with it a little better nowadays,im sick of doctors and getting tests done and i just learn to live with what i got.

Its just  more of a struggle for me to do everyday things as shower,go out anywhere, sit at a restaurant for dinner and even shopping as teh fluoro lights in shops triggers the vertigo..

Im not disabled enough to go onto a pension cause doctors cant diagnose me with anything...I had tried applying for jobs but i have to tell them in my interview i have this vertigo and at times i need to rest and then i dont get the jobs, who is going to employ someone that has this kinda illness?

Have you tried any of the migraine meds just to see if they might help?  Have they ever suggested doing an ENG (electonystagmogram) to see if they can figure out the cause of your vertigo?  Maybe if they could figure that out they could treat you for it.  The spinal block done at the time of your twins' birth might have been related to the onset of your headaches, vertigo and eye problem, but it might have been just a coincidence too.

If nothing else has worked I might recommend looking for a cranialsacral therapist in your area.  Google cranisalsacral therapy/therapists to learn more and to search in your area

Although you said that you had a spinal block which may have contributed to your problems surely the doctors should have been able to diagnose this by now.  This sounds like a problem of mercury toxiciy.  I am going to ask you to go to the mirror and check your mouth like I have told others.  If you have silver fillings then you may have mercury poisoning.  This is a problem for a lot of adults now as most of us were given silver fillings(mercury fillings).  The problem is going undiagnosed as doctors are not considering that ptients with silver fillings are exposed to the most toxic gas  that ever exist in mother nature  MERCURY!  If you have silver fillings you may to request test but keep in mind that this may not show a true mercury load.

Google "Symptoms of mercury fillings"

Google "Dental Amalgam Mercury Syndrome"(or call DAMS National Office at 1-800-311-6265.)

Also ask your mother to have her mouth checked as mercury fillings also cause alzhiemers disease.

Good luck!

Hello,

About 3 months ago I went on a trip to Mexico. I had to take two planes over there. On the first plane, i was laying all the way down on my boyfriends lap, sleeping. As i landed in Mexico City i started to feel dizzy. I feel as though i am drunk alll the time. Ever since that day i got off the plane i have never felt the same. I have felt something similar to this when i went on a cruise. I went on a 7 day cruise and when i came back i felt the sensation of being on the boat for about 2 days, but then it went away. This time i wasnt so lucky! I was at first prescribed mechlizine which did not work. So i went to see an ENT specialist. I have gotten an ear balance tests, MRI, eye tests, and all the doctor can tell me is that i have an imbalance in both of my inner ears. He doesnt know what the cause of it is, and has not explained any treatment options. We are just ruling things out. The only medication i am taking is Loestrin (birth cintrol) Since the dizziness i have had headaches, back pain, and stomach problems. A year ago i was diagnosed with gastritis. There were certain foods the doctor told me to stay away from. This problem made me constipated, and bloated. So itried to go on this program where i had to take fiber pills drink a shake, and a tea for a month. I am not sure if this has anything to do with it. I have also been to the chiropractor, who told me that my accident 3 years ago may have something to do with it. I have tried acupuncture, and nothing has helped! Can anyone help me?? Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong. This is just so frustrating and I dont know what to do!!!
