Hello Dragon~  I've never heard of the flavor taste etc. when your ammonia levels are high, you'll get headaches, confusion, anger from chem. imbalance and insomoa etc. as the side-effects of toxic overloads, I guess it might stand to reason that since other senses are effected, even eye-sight, that "taste" could be also... [don't really know there], If you're levels are too high, you'll need to get with your doctor about this to see if he might help the management of detoxing along with your tx.  Of course it would be almost impossible to take tx. and not have to manage your detoxing of the dead cells, and the resulting build up of ammonia levels, but I know that it is important to manage any treatment plan together.
  My case is different than you're as I'm not on tx. but I've found that L-Ornithine as a suppliment, really helps with the side-effects.  Another good one is NAC [N-Acetly-Cysteine] a precursor to ALA.  but as always... see what the "doc" says..:-}
Happy trails to ya all.. God bless!
