won't eat, won't sleep, only wants to drink

My daughter is 31 months old.  She currently wears 18 month clothes and still the pants fall right down.  Everything has to be taken in.  She askes for water all day long and will drink as much as we give her.  She wakes us 3-4 times during the night crying for water.  We had her tested for diabetes insipidus - it runs in my husbands family- the tests were really inconclusive, but they believe that she didn't have it because she did not urinate for 8 hours while we were at the hospital for the water depravation test.  Her blood work was also inconsistent.
She refuses to eat 99% of the time and we resort to baby food, yogurt and pudding which she tolerates.
My husband and I are at our witts end.  She is so tiny and so many people comment on how thin she is.  The lack of sleep is affecting all in the family.

Pediasure has more calories in it and added vitamins. I know for children with more severe problems, medically, they would use a gastrostomy tube(g tube) and do feedings that way with a formula that is used. though I'm blanking out on what exactly it is. You can try googling it to see what comes up. you're mostly just looking to add more protein for her, since fluids won't contain it.

She had extensive blood work done at her 2nd birthday doctor's visit. Everything was fine.   Recently - in the past 2 weeks, my husband and I decided to give her more milk and/or juice instead of the water and also to refuse to give it to her on demand.  This seems to be helping, she will cry a little for it, then stop.  Also, from day 1 that we gave her less water, she  has been sleeping for longer periods of time at night and has even slept through the night a few times - which she never did before.  I guess I am hoping that this is just a habit - like having the cup is her security blanket in a way.
Thanks for the info and advice - by the way, sweetpea - what kind of supplements?  I put vitamin drops in her 1st milk cup of the day.  Is there something else out there?
thanks:)

until the tests come back, can you add supplements to the water for weight gain? just make sure she's getting enough nutrients.

Hi, have your daughter tested for type 1 juvenile diabetes. All of her symptoms match what my daughter went through right before she was diagnosed. Good luck!
