facial discomfort

by mstatum38, Jan 23, 2007 12:00AM
I have a question for over a year now I've lived with ongoing oftentimes intense facial pain. It was first thought I was suffering a second stroke but upon mri testing there wasn't evidence supporting that theory. It feels like I'm blushing all the time like now my face feels as if it's on fire. the right side hurts the worse but the left often hurts, even my lips hurt I've seen two neurologists and have tried several meds. Nothing works. Anyone had this problem and can share some advice on what was successful for them?

My son first feels a tingling in his face followed by extreme facial pain. I have to hold him so he doesn't hurt himself when he is thrashing about in pain. This first started when he was nine increased in frequency in his teen years. Found a doctor in Newport Beach, CA who used a holistic approach and convinced my son he could stop the attacks which lasted anywhere from five to 30 minutes. He recently had his first attack in over 3 years.

Does your pain come on quickly or builds up slowly?

I am looking for an injection of some medicine that would stop the pain attacks for my son.
