Pimples....undergoing a treatment

Hi Sir,

I used to get pimples around my face, back and chest however I had undergone a treatment and the problem subsided eventually however the moment I left the treatment I again started getting pimples or some kind of infection. I am again undergoing a treatment and the doctor says that this is a normal concern....I got some reports done and everything is fine..

Please let me know how long will this continue? will I be ever able to get rid of this medication? Also, are these tablets harmful for me? My parents are thinking of getting me married however I am sacred to get rid of my medication as I font wanna see any more pimples over my face :(

Please explain

Hello,
I don’t know your gender; but if you are a female then you are requested to stop the antiacne medications especially if you are taking Accutane during pregnancy. Also there is no hard and fast rule and acne may recur after stopping the antiacne medications also.

I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hello,
You seem to be having acne vulgaris. Just keep you face clean by washing with a mild soap atleast twice a day. Pat it dry and do not rub it. Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime. An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face. If your skin becomes red or peels, you are using too much of the medicine or applying it too often.
Back and shoulder acne are quite difficult to treat compared to acne on other parts of the body. Thoroughly wash your body everyday, especially the back and shoulder part using a back brush and frequently change your bed sheet, as it is conducive for bacterial growth. Engage in a diet that is low in sugar and fat but is rich in vitamins. This prevents acne by preventing the buildup of excess oil on the skin. Also refrain from touching or squeezing your shoulder acne. Also try to keep your hair free of dandruff by using good antidandruff shampoos. You can also apply benzoyl peroxide creams or clindamycin cream on the acne.

If the symptoms persist, then oral antibiotics may be needed and cystic acne need to be ruled out .Please consult a dermatologist then. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
