emg findings

by Sparklytami, Mar 19, 2007 12:00AM
EMG findings, 1. minimal right tibial dermopathy of unknown etiology  2. there is no evidence to suggest or polyneuropathi process 3. needle emg findings are most compatible with a myopathy, I do have low vitamin d levels, have tried mega dose vit d 50,000 units a week for 6 weeks, but levels only go up for a couple of weeks and then back down.  I have muscle pain, profound weakness, fatigue easily , some bone pain, joint pain.  i have proximal and distal involvement.  short duration motor units, decreased recruitment in both upper and lower extremities.  GI follow-up, IBS with probable malabsorption.  Endocrinologist or Neurologist will not prescribe the mega dose vit d to get it up because ionized calcium is 5.9.  I did see Dr at Mayo Clinic, muscle biopsy showed type 2 atrophy, I don't know what else to do, now one locally has a patient like this, i wondered if i have something other than vit d myopathy, i have freqent fasciculations.  i didn't know what the tibial dermopathy meant other than skin disease??  I don't know who to turn to
