Foot trauma/Reynaud's or something else?

by Lookin4answers, Apr 22, 2007 12:00AM
My 19 yr. old daughter plays collegiate soccer and was stepped on in Nov.  X-rays showed a chip Doctor put her in a boot and after Christmas she was seen by a foot dr.  He said "get that boot off" and sent her to the training room for daily p/t.  She has regained @ 80% movement in her left foot with training. Her foot turns blue and is very cold and painful when she sleeps, so off to the dr. She has had x-rays, MRI, MRA and was sent to a rheumatologist.  She diagnosed Reynaud's and said that Norvasc (5mg)/day was the treatment. Everything I read about this disease/syndrome says it affects both appendages.  My daughters left foot is the one affected.  Also, I am very uncomfortsble with a 19 yr. old on blood pressure meds. Why does it seem that she is beibg prescribed meds without a true diagnosis? What other causes could there be.  Are there other doctor's/tests to see or have run that would be helpful?  Please help.

I have Raynolds and my hands and feet and also my ears turn red , purple and they get hot and ice cold , you will also feel sharp shooting pains all over your body the blood vessels constrict and the flow of blood is slowed way down , you can go to the mayo clinic online and type in raynolds syndrom and it will tell you  all about it .  I'm sorry that your going through this problem but the doctors have given the right meds.  GOOD LUCK.

Can reynauds cause pain and coldness in other parts of the body? Like my feet are allways freezing even with socks and shoes on and its quite painful at times, also my ears hands and nose does the same thing. Ive had unexplained abdominal pain for 2yrs now, not my stomach or anything like that, its like the skin or tissue or something. I also have pain and coldness in other parts of my bosy randomly. My body either is emitting heat or cold in places, im never comfortable temperature wise. Also reynauds is related to mild seizure disorders. I was just wondering if you have any of these symptoms. Also my skin hurts sometimes in places. Are you on meds for the reynauds? Does it help? I looked it up online and they said for minor reynauds you can take ginkgo biloba, and I took it for a couple of months and it dident do anything. Can you relate to any of this?
