Oops...sorry, that last comment was actually meant for donnahoward99.
Although I'm not sure exactly what is going on with you, just thought I'd share that my serum amylase levels are currently at 723. I have no symptoms of anything actually being wrong, but still thought I'd get it checked out anyways, which I will on Dec 2nd. My sister found an article online that relates celiac disease (gluten allergies) to increased pancreatic enzymes. Maybe try either getting tested for a gluten allergy (which is done via an intestinal biospsy and/or a blood test). The title of the article my sister found is: "Unexplained elevated serum pancreatic enzymes: a reason to suspect celiac disease". Try googling it and see what you think. I hope you're doing well!
do u think it could be that even though my liver pancreas and gallbladder showed no signs of inflammation in either the ct scan and the mri scan? im not sure the way in which the dilated common bile duct relates to the raise in amylase levels?ive not managed to eat today as last night dinner is still sitting there,i feel very sick as if ive ate too much and im getting sharp pains under both shoulder baldes now and the constant bloatedness is rather painful, even though its rapidly getting worse im not usre wether to go back to the hospital as there is nothing more they can do until this scan at the end of the month:S, they only let me out on tuesday, what would u recommend?

Also google other listings for more extensive info on autoimmune pancreatitis.
thanks for replying to my add...i have a hida scan booked for 29th oct and a 6 week follow up with mri on 2nd november so no doubt the doc will have the results of both scans infront of him and course of action when i go back.
ive been told to eat small meals regularly and to decrease my fat intake, and these days its hard.
what is autoimmune pancreatitis? and what causes that?
Donna it's probably going to take a bit of time to get to the bottom of what's going on. If you haven't done so, call the doc and find out what kind of a diet you might want to consider following until they can figure out what's going on. You may want to consider low fat, and also ask the doc about taking some prescription enzyme supplements to help you digest the food you are taking in.
The pain on the right hand side could suggest it's related to your gallbladder. Gallbladder and pancreatic issues can often be found together, unfortunately, so they may have to do more testing such as a HIDA scan to try to figure out what's going on. Make sure they also check for autoimmune pancreatitis.
