memory loss after bypass

how common is this problem

I'm a volunteer in a critical care cardiac unit, and memory loss is quite common after bypass surgery.  Usually memory function returns, but not always  about events that took place close to the surgery.  Be patient and continue to re-assure your loved one.  Keep us informed.
