Gastroparesis

Looking for a third opinion. After having a colonoscopy, endoscopy, capsule study, and stomach emptying study I have been diagnosed with Gastroparesis. I have been given medication that does not work, lost weight (no complaint there), constantly feel full, and have pain. I have been told there is no cure for this and this diagnosis is usually found in people with diabetes which Im not a diabetic. I have been to see two doctors in this field and Im looking now for a third opinion. I just want to feel better. ANy advise??????????????

It doesn't sound like gastroparesis.  Can you please post your question as its own post though?

I see that ya'll have had gastroparesis diagnoses, and am wondering if ya'll feel any abdominal numbness- I think I have gp, but w/out insurance, I am unable to find a Dr to help me. I started to have intermittent numbness...seemed to come & go with inmcomplete bowel movements, often cramping during the day because was unable to relieve myself completely in the morning. It started a year ago, and now, I am so numb when I have a bowel movement- also noticed all my muscles in my abdomen have gone to mush- my belly feels like a waterbed. I have been on pain med for my back & know that it can slow down motility, but I feel numb on the inside , and also on the lower part of my back, midway to sacral area. I don't know if it  is maybe a spinal injury, as I have developed idiopathic scoliosis. I have terrible muscle pain on both sides and my hips are in sever pain, as the muscles feel they are being ripped off of them. I have lost abdominal muscles and can't even do a sit up. I wonder if this is some sort of neuropathy. I dont' feel nauseaus much, and don't vomit- I know gp is a vagus nerve problem, and I do have other vagal probs, such as IST (tachycardia) . I have been on pain meds for almost a yr, but the pain of my back is awful and find i hard to walk without them. I take a low dose, so not even the amt prescribed. I have some sort of nerve damage, but wonderr if anyone else has the numbness- I feel like I can't push out my bowel movement- I know I have to go, but nothing comes out- not constipated- just very numb- like my insides have been turned off. I am sooooooo scared, but woulkd appreciate some guidance. Thanks !!!

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  I too have gastroparesis and I don't have diabetes.  If the first medication didn't work your doctor should have tried other medications.  What medication did he give to you?  It is true that there is no cure for this.  From your profile I see you are living in the US and Motilium is not available in the US (because it can possibly cause sudden cardiac arrest).  Pika is from australia where it is available.

I also went through all the tests that you mentioned above.  The first Stomach emptying study also show that I got Gastroparesis.  My GP prescripted "Motilium" - Domperidone for me to take.  After 2 years, this test showed a lag phase but emptying in different manner.  My Gastro doc withdrew the Motilium.   I feel much better now.

You said the medication does not work?  Which med are you taking at the moment?  Motilium worked very well for me.
