Trapped Gas

I recently had a gastro scope (down the throat) because of persistent chronic abdominal pain and bloating. The results were negative - no bacteria and no damages. I was surprised with the results. I knew the pain was real, so what was the cause. I also had an abdominal ultrasound and was told that I have gallbladder adenmyosis. The doctor explained it as a thickening of the muscle around the gallbladder. It was also discovered that I have a polop on my gallbladder. I was concerned, however, she advised that the cause was diet related, similar to what would cause gallbladder problems. I am scheduled for a follow-up ultrasound in six months to be certain the polop has not increased in size. I have to admit, this has caused me concern. I also have episodes of feeling the need to burp or pass gas, but no matter what I try (including being burped like a baby, which oddly enough, helps), I have great difficulty getting the air to release. If I do manage to pass air, I still don't feel relief and another 'bubble' or 'air pocket' is right behind it. This is very annoying and frustrating. These bouts usually last from 2-4 hours and not every day. Not sure what the cause is or how to prevent it. Since the gastro did not show a hiatal hernia, etc., I can't help but think the gallbladder must be the cause, even if it doesn't make sense????

Any advise or anyone suffering from similar symptoms? I already take the strongest dose of Nexium for stomach acid as well as buscopan for stomach pains. HELP! Any feedback is welcomed. :)

It's the sodium bicarb in alka seltzer that bubbles up and releases the gas, you put the tablets in a small glass of water.

Maybe another poster will know about the thickening of gallbladder muscle affecting other organs or not.

Thanks for your advice and encouragement. I have to say that I have tried Ovol and Eno to help release the gas and it helps to a point. I also used to drink an Activia yogurt daily, but have to admit that I haven't been doing it as regularly as I should. I will definitely take your advise re the smaller meals, etc. You have re-inforced info that I have heard and coming from a person with personal experience makes it seem more attainable. I understand the gallbladder can be easily removed, however, I have to wonder if the muscle wall around the gallbladder is thickening, what other organs could be affected. A better diet is always a good idea and I know it isn't easy, but not impossible. Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Well, I can give you a few simple tips.  Drink an ordinary alka seltzer whenever you feel bloated, it will release tons of gas in the tummy immediately.  Take it at a different time than your Nexium.  Also, consume probiotics, which is Acidophilus milk or Activia yogurt for two weeks, or in health food stores they have it in pill form, "Pearls," I think they call it, which helps break down waste... since gallbladder may not be working exactly right, then probiotics will kind of work like bile.

Keep in mind gas buildup really hurts, thus your symptoms.  Eating smaller and more frequent meals will help with gas buildup, and be sure to thoroughly chew meats, and if you eat whole fruit, just eat it as a snack, or it might cause gas with a meal.  Do not worry too much about the gallbladder itself with the polyp and everything, they can take that gland out easily, and many people live without one.  You can look online for what folks who don't have a gallbladder eat, and try that, too.  And stay well hydrated each day.
