swelling from left breast

by 5yrsurvior, Feb 04, 2007 12:00AM
I'm a 5yr breast cancer survior, with minor pain coming from under left armpit. there seems to be swelling in the left breast, into the armpit and going up into the neck and just the left side of the face. Could this be caused by to much lifting and pulling on heavy items at work? Or should I be more concerned that it is something else? My orginal cancer was in the right breast and was ductal, resulting in removal of that breast, and reconstruction being done. Orginal implant ruptured, recently replaced with new implant in December

I would get it checked out, given yourhistory. Any reason why you're hesitating to do so??

Hi,

This could be mastitis, breast abscess,  in rare case a recurrence, etc.

Are you lactating at the moment and do you ave any asociated clinical features of nipple discharge/redness/ soreness?

You should get a clinical examination and see if your physician wants to prescribe any antibiotics or painkillers.

He/she might want to run you through some tests including blood tests, and maybe a mammography. Nothing can be said for sure without a clinical examination.

Let us know about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.

Regards.
