tramflap

I had a dbl mastectomy aug 09. Boy what was I thinking? took over 1 yr for breast to heal had to have 3-4 debreaments what a mess and thru all this constant pain. I just came from the Mayo clinic where they removed the mesh that was used Im using a binder now and look 5 mths pregant the dr said really didnt need another mesh. To me that sounds stupid I realize Im 52 yrs old but come on I have this huge belly that I hope most of ot is swelling. Can anyone refer me to a phy here in NM that can put in another mesh or do something?

I'm glad you found us here and I hope some of the survivors can help you get where you're going. I sent you a private message regarding the issue you're having and I hope it helps you get your answer.

Mesh seems to be an issue that is getting more and more attention lately because women are having severe infections from it. Once they removed your stomach muscles for your TRAM the mesh is the only thing holding it in place. Without the mesh I believe you will have continued issues. See if the info I sent you gets you some answers.

I'm so sorry you've had to deal with breast cancer and now reconstruction failure. I had DIEP reconstruction and am thankful that it went very well.

Best wishes.

I am sorry to hear all you are going through!

However, we deal only with breast issues/breast cancer in this forum.

Although you apparently have had breast cancer, your current problem  is the with your abdominal area and related to Cosmetic/Reconstructive Surgery.

You can get advice regarding that issue by posting in the Cosmetic Surgery Expert Forum.

Best wishes...
