HPV w/o warts

I was diagnosed with HPV a couple months ago.  I have had no warts.  If I have intercourse, can I pass on HPV or warts to a partner, if I have no symptoms, other than the PAP results?

This discussion is related to HPV clearing on its own / General clarification.

oh definitely read up on cervical hpv infections , write down your questions and then call to speak to your doctor for answers to your questions.  http://www.ashastd.org/hpv/hpv_learn.cfm  has up to date and informative information for reading :)

My doctor didn't tell me if I was High or low risk.  I had an abnormal Pap.  All she said was 'you tested positive for hpv, this can cause cervical cancer'.  Then she moved on to other matters.

Maybe I should call her nurse and quiz her??

when you had a + hpv result on your pap, did they say if it was high risk or low risk hpv? did you also have an abnormal pap result also?

there are over 130 different types of hpv that infect humans.  Of those, about 30 or so infect the genital area commonly. Some of them cause obvious warts, some of them infect the cervix on us gals. typically the kinds that infect the cervix, don't also cause obvious warts so odds are if you only have 1 type of hpv ( you can be infected with multiple types ), you aren't going to cause warts in a partner if it's a cervical hpv infection.
