Black Mold

by Nakoa, Apr 26, 2007 12:00AM
To be breif I am a 42 y/o female who has progressivley become sicker over the last six months and have been recently informed that my house has tested + for black mold.. I know nothing about the effects of prolonged exposure to this substance.  My symptons have been chronic cough, SOB, diarreah, itching ears and most recently blood stained mucous when I have a violent coughing episode.  I am noticing a need to breath in deeply because I feel as if I'm not getting enough O2.  Very fatigued.  Can anybody shed some light on this?

My daughter and I have suffered with chronic sinus problems which can cause a lot of other problems and dizziness ranks high up on the list.  My daughter who is 10 suffers a lot with the dizziness even after two operations.  Good luck!

Hi all your symptoms could be related to aspergilliosis ( black mould) If you google it you will find lots of information on symptoms and the results of exposure. You wil be able to see if your symptoms match up and if they do please go to see adr as soon as you can. Regards Crystaly

Nakoa,

I am not a doctor.

I too have mold in my apartment - my symptoms have gone from asthma due to allergies and smoking to - full out coughing up / vomiting mouth fulls of mucous each morning - and of course the coughing goes further to heaving and vomiting.  My upper back feels like I had been in a car accident, and my brain fog is unmeasurable.

Exhaustion, anxiety and insomnia are my new mates.  Cosmetic repairs have been done - the mold is no longer visible - but my symptoms have not changed. Recent weight gain is also a great perk.

I am moving and likely need a lawyer.

My naturopath is concerned, stating my neurotransmitters have gone out and my cortisol is high.  Health bills.

Has anyone else had this experience? I am cranky, angry, dropping things and running into walls. Exhausted.

I will be out of here in 2 months - mold is dangerous!

Yes, I would also like to welcome you to the mold club. Funny, I am relieved to hear someone else say that because when you suffer the effects of this **** for so many years and have doctors look at you like your insane, its good to hear from others who have been there.   Basically, you can name almost any illness you have and trace it back to mold if your house had black mold. Mine did and it almost killed me. The story is so long I can't tell it and I go into a panic attack just thinking about it. Put it this way, 6 years after moving, I have fibro, chronic yeast, tumors, cysts, early menopause and the list goes on, and while that sounds horrible, I am not nearly as ill as I was while living there. Just moving will change so much for you.  Mold is in the bible, with specific instructions on what to do about it and also, hope I dont sound like a freak but there are other things that go along with the mold and if your house gets moldy enough you will be running out screaming and leaving your stuff behind. My husband and I abandoned almost everything we owned except for some clothes and a few things that we felt mold couldnt have gotten into. Dont take wooden furniture with you when you move or your mold problem will grow right along at your new place.  Also, and this is the most important thing I have learned about it so far,   when you have lived in mold for a while, RE exposure to it can be deadly.  I am a human mold detector.  Something in our local courthouse was making people sick, I went in to pay a bill at the clerks office, i started getting ill on the lawn and all the way in the door, got dizzy lots of weird stuff, thought I would have a stroke before i got out. I told hubby our courthouse has mold, mark my words.  Two months later the courthouse was shutdown and men with haz suits were working on it for several months to get the mold out.  Anyway I found out you can have a stroke or heart attack from re exposure after you have lived in it. I think I was close that day.  ***@****   email anytime,   sick of being sick too, God Bless you.

Hello!  I consider myself a healthy person, since March 2008 I have noticed that I have an uncontrollable cough, I feel fatigued and sometimes my ears ache.  I went to the doctor and he said mold and gave me traditional chinese medicine.  I felt better but when I went back to work the symptoms appeared.

My concern is that I work at a school and I noticed that many other teachers and students have similar symptoms.  I have seen what appears to be a furry looking black patch on the walls and when request that they clean it.  It stayed for at least 2 months until I started calling off work.

Please give me some advice as how I need to proceed so others wont continue to get sick.

Regards,

I am not a doctor, but a fellow mold sufferer.

RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN. Take nothing soft with you, like clothing. Take no furniture. Take no books or paper. (Yes, I know, I'm a book lover, also.) Go to a department store. Buy new clothing for you and your daughter. Throw your old clothing into the garbage, AT the department store. Clothing from a moldy house can NEVER be washed free of mold. Since any mold that you take into your NEW accomodations, will "cross-contaminate" your NEW place, check into a hotel room, or a friend's house, to shower/bathe (especially hair) you, your family and your pets, before stepping into your NEW place.

Every minute more that you spend in your moldy house, is a minute closer to NEVER RECOVERING. After a week or two, when you are feeling much better, you will get the urge to return to your old house to "pick up your treasures". Fight the urge, because 5 minutes back in the moldy house, and you will be as sick as you were BEFORE you left the house.

For the rest of your life, all it will take is a tiny exposure to mold, to make you as sick as you were in your house, which was INFESTED with mold. Email me with any questions to: ***@****

Also, check out this Yahoo Health Group, to see how hundreds of other people are coping with the same situation as yours.

Get out of that school.  RUN, RUN, RUN.  It's MOLD.

Here is a helpful online support group, and another helpful web site. Every MINUTE more that you stay there, is a step closer to NEVER getting better.

what can be cleaned or salvaged after stacchy. & aspergillis & satratoxin-G (also, what's the difference between the G and the H types and health effects) wkrn I've tested positive  for these? My hvac system went ouy after livinh in the rental unit for 13 years... ya, 13 years. I've only had confirmation on blood testing & bonafide lab tests on paper the last 6 mos, approx. before i left my duplex, items were stored...it makes me sick as soon as i smell stored items, I have to remove them from my friend's garage, do I find a place pre-furnished? I feel the symptoms immediately in anyplace that has has mold from burning eyes & throat & have to get away;asap, I feel like i've lost focus, direction in life and have nobody left to help me. I need the proper doctors (cysts in sinuses, throat, liver, both kidneys, right mid lobe are various cysts measuring uo to 2.5cm on last CT (may 1, 2008) and shadowing in left lower lobe of lung. If there isn't anyone in the area, I pray someone will forward this to the dr phil show or oprah, because I'm not computer literate to do this and both studios need emails, so my name is Janet willis, I'm homeless, going from a professional with a career & 3 healthy 7y/o cats (also sick), to a real live bag lady...I thank the Lord for the many blessings I"m grateful every day....my bags all match & I have a reliable car... when I think of the Katrina victims, it humbles me deeply... So this 55y/o girl still remains grateful, counts my blessings, but Istill want to know what, if anything non-pourous, can be saved, I now have limited income, but things can be replaced and people can't....Furthermore I'm unable to even look without losing my focus. I'LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES FOR AS LONG AS IT IT TAKES AND TRAVEL ANYWHERE IF IT MAKES ME ABLE TO BE THE STRONG LADY I ONCE WAS. Please cc these to the dr phil show & oprah... They have the professionals needed that are willing administer proper medical and legal care needed to make me a healthy person inside...
That is also a blessing, and I'm grateful I can use my friend's computer too. God's speed,  Janet Willis, 760 831-3333 cell.

Janet, I would like to encourage you to stay in Palm Desert. The dry climate should be one of the healthiest for you. Also, UCLA medical and UCSD are also LOADED with high powered medical people that should have the talent to get your system under control. I'm not a doctor, nor did I stu
