Time to therapy

I am scheduled to have a posterior bladder neoplasm (non muscular invasion) scraped off (debrided) and exposed to both Adriamycin and Docetaxel. Question How long do you wait after a mastectomy to start chemoradiation treatment. Is there a benefit to start as soon as possible within days or do you follow a statically proven protocol.

This discussion is related to Time Between Surgery and Chemo.

Sorry, I misread when I saw your wording of chemoradiation. I thought you were asking how long after chemo do they start radiation. <oopsie!

Hi,
Radiation therapy post surgery is given ONLY after proper healing of tissues has taken place and there are no side effects secondary to the surgery. When the healing is completed,of course the sooner the better to start the treatment as SueYoung55 has suggested, but it could take up to six weeks.
Most of the clinical trials require that chemotherapy be started about 12 weeks of the final surgical procedure.
You could talk to your Oncologist in detail about this and clear out any doubts that you have.
Sending you my best wishes....
