Rehabilitation Expectations?

by CGTMHI, Feb 26, 2004 12:00AM
Last January 28' 98, my son at age of 22 then had a severe bleed of the brainstem. On Feb. 2, he suffered two major strokes involving entire left side of the brain and back of the right side according to his neurosurgeon.

This was due to an anuersym, they believe, no anuersym was found on the angiograms or any AV malfunction. He had to have a shunt placed two months later due to hydrocephalus. We brought him home then and have done remarkably well. He has difficulty with upper extremities, less movement there, but unable to move legs on command except when we walk which he walks with the assistance of three each night at least 40 feet. We have just started an extra program of PT and OT and having increased spasticity have been giving Flexeril but due too the sedation have to belimited any suggestions for spasms, and what would your expectations of such an injury be for rehabilitation?
