more neglect

since my last question i have another one.my mother has also developed a bed sore on her heal. besides all the other problems the stroke caused.the nurses told me the bed sore was geting better a couple weeks ago but today we asked to see it.i couldnt stand to look at it but i smelled it and it was awful.what does this mean?
