Loss of vision due to Hypertensive Hemorrhage stroke..

On April 6th,2006 my husband had a Hypertensive Hemorrhage stroke. He had a blood clot that burst a blood vessel on the right side of his brain, he had of course bleeding and swelling.  The swelling is gone and waiting for the blood to be absorbed. He is now home.  No major mobility problems.  He seems to have short term memory loss at times.  His vision is very cloudy.  Will his memory and vision be restored.  If not is there any eye surgery he can have later down the road? He is taking additional high blood pressure medication and anti-seizure medication. He gets confused easily on how to do things. I know everyone is different but is there some sort of time frame?  Someone will be coming to our home for physical/occupational therapy.  The doctor said there is nothing that can be done for his sight except wait. We would be greatful for any information you could give us on this subject.  My husband already has clinical depression and this not knowing is taking it's toll on him.

My husband has also had a stroke after years of high blood pressure which has also effected his vision, he complains of blurring and distortion his left hand is slightly weak and he has no mobility problems except for temporary numbness in his lower leg occasionally which I suspect is a TIA. In spite of these problems he looks fine and has recovered from the heart attack quite well.  So I will be watching this thread with interest.  My husbands stroke was exactly four weeks ago and there has been no improvement in his vision or muscle tone in his hand so far.



This stroke occured within a couple of hours after the heart attack and was not picked up by the hospital!!!!



We are waiting for a CT scan of his brain which in the UK means a long waiting list and doplar scans of his neck and leg.

It would seem that everyone is effected differently by a stroke.  My wife had a hemorrhagic stroke just a little over a year ago.  The most profound and lasting insult to the brain seems to have effected her left peripheral vision.  In my opinion, present medical therapies seem insufficient with limited effectiveness.  What I discovered after much research were two very helpful therapies.  The first was the use of Eye Lights.  One can read about these glasses at www.eyelights.com  In my wife's case, they helped with improving her eye sight.  Next, what I discovered was how diet can play a very important role in the recover from this type of trauma.  What seems to have worked for my wife was the introduction of liquid amino acids to her daily meals.  Liquid amino acids can be purchased at one's local GNC as an example.  Body builders and weight lifters have used high protein diets to sustain their daily workouts.  Amino acid supplements are proteins derived from cows milk.

These therapies seemed to have helped my wife however, it would be best to consult with one's physician before undertaking any therapy as I did with the above.  I will say that her physicians where astounded by her recovery after starting the two items mentioned above.
