IVF - post embroyo transfer activity

by R99, Jun 30, 2003 12:00AM
After you have had frozen & thawed embroyo implanted as a result of an IVF cycle, what sort of activity levels should you maintain and over what time frames? We have read books recommending complete bed rest for 72 hours, normal activity immediately ofllowing the implantation, and everything in between.

Also, what about longer term (assuming the pregnancy takes). Are there differences between IVF vs. "normal" pregnancies in terms of allowable levels/types of activity? We've read that "heavy" exercise is to be avoided through the entire pregnancy, that "light" exercise is ok but only after the fiorst trimester, etc. Do these time frames make sense? And what is "light" vs "heavy" exercise?

I had an IVF recently (my first). For 72 hours after embryo-transfer i did not move at all of my bed. Not on the left side nor the right side. For the following days i was lying on a bed and sometimes i was sitting in a chair. All these until my blood test. Although my doctor did not gave such strict orders for bed-rest it was the only thing i could do to help all this situation and to be vindicated for my labour. I think i did the right thing. 13 days later i had a positive blood test.

NOTE: I think that 72 hours of bed-rest is a myth. My implantation took place much later. Strange but it happened as my blood test of hcg showed up.

I hope everything to be fine. A lot of wishes for happy news and relax for several days... You've got nothing to lose... Only to win...
