Intracerebral Hemorage

by robinatthebeach, May 20, 2007 12:00AM
My 77 year old mother had a stroke 2 weeks ago, she has only briefly and slightly opened her eyes and squeezed my hand.  Her bleed was large.  They are draining the blood from her brain.  Her heart rate peeks to over 200, They have put a tract in and are about to put a feeding peg in.  Can anyone tell me if she has a good chance of surviving, or is it just too much for the size of the bleed and her age?

Her recovery may be unknown. Just a guess but, they are probably keeping her heart rate up to flood the brain for a better chance to heal.
The first 90 days will be her best chance at recovery. Best of luck.

My mother had a hemorragic stroke 6 years ago. The doctor gave her a 45% chance of making it through surgery. She made it and is still alive although she is paralyzed on the left side, which is frustrating for her and my sisters and me that take care of her. I wish there was a way to give her back her mobility at least in her arm.
