IVF implantation and accidental progesterone presciption doubling?

Hi:

I had an IVF transfer on 1/9. I had spotting on the 13th with a pinch on right side of uterus. The IVF nurse doulbed my progesterone as a precaution and told me to come to the office the next day.  On 1/14 all blood work came back with good estrodial etc. Ultrasound showed good 11mm thickness of lining but found that they had accidentally doubled. The next day they reduced the progesterone suppository and added prometrium pills to supplement original suppository prescription.  That evening I felt twinges, passed a small blood clot and all pregnancy symptoms immediately disappeared. Is it all over?  Can a sudden increase and  then decrease in progesterone cause a miscarriage?

Yes.  That is how your body knows to shed the lining: the progesterone level drops.  That doesn't mean that's what happened.  If you only had a litte blood or even what you think is a clot (could just be blood and not tissue) everything could be ok.  If your lining was thick, like they said it was, you would have a LOT of bleeding.  Don't worry... stay positive, you'll be ok :)  momttc

   This is my first time here. Just wanted to let you know I've been going through the same thing. I had a IVF transfer done on the 17th of this month. I started spotting this past Saturday.(very little pink spotting) I'm doing the prog. shot and the capsules 3 times a day. The shot is every other day. I had some sharp quick pain in my lower ab. I'm hoping this is implantion I never experienced spotting before with my other preg. so I'm wondering if both embyros are implanting which is causing this. After I pain today I went to the bathroom (excuse my french) had a b.m  and got dark red show just alittle but nothing in the toilet. wiped myself nothing but pink. I took a preg. test yesterday it came out neg. My blood test is tomarrow. I have a funny feeling this is twins. I have never been so nervous. I'll keep you informed. Hope thing are going well for you. My prayers are with you all.

IVF & Spotting. After discovering a congenital BD, leaving me one operative fallopian tube with a unicornate uterus, my husband & I resolved to IVF afer IUI attemps had failed.  Fortunately, at my age I am still ovulating normally, and have great hormonal levels, but needed assistance getting preg none the less.  This is all new territory for me.  I am 40+ and had 4 embryos transfered 2/5.  On 2/13 I noticed a minor amount of spotting,almost immeasurable. It occurred again 2/14. I am on progesterone injections: 1 cc/day, the doc dropped the dosage back to 3/4 cc/day on the 9th as my progesterone was 162. Would this small drop in the amount of progesterone have caused spotting 4 days later?  Should my docs office have done another blood test a few days after dropping the dosage to see where my levels were?  I am scheduled for a preg test 5 days from now, which would be 2 weeks from transfer date.  Is it too early to do a preg test at this point?  I've contacted my doc's office, but in the meantime looked up possibilites and foundhtis site.

I just underwent the embryo transfer on Saturday, but I forgot to take the progesterone suppositories on the implant day.  I took them on Sunday and again today. What kind of damage may I have done?  Also, I am having a lot of minor cramping.  Does this mean it did not take?

hi there i am 11 days post transfer took a pt this am with a slight blue line appearing however, light bleeding this afternoon,  due to test tomorrow anybody have any thoughts i am climbing the walls here

Hi! I had the IVF done on 11/12/07. I had two embryos that had been frozen and my chances for implantation was only 20%. I have been taking 2ccs daily of progesterone injections in my gluts in the p.m. I took my first home pregnancy test on 11/20 and like you had a slight blue line. The next day I had the blood test done and it was positive. I experienced a lot of cramping on my right ovary or side. The HCG levels were 250 indicating that perhaps both embryos took. Then on 11/27 I had another pregnancy blood test and the HCG levels were 4000 indicating a possibility both embryos implanted, but the ultrasound only showed one sack. Then last Tuesday I had one of the worst scares of my life. I was at Bloomingdale's shopping when all of a sudden, I began to bleed. I rushed to my doctor's office. Thank god he was there because he did a vaginal ultrasound and the baby still has a strong heart beat. Today we are 8 weeks pregnant and the baby is six weeks old.

Congrats on your pregnancy, I really hope I am as lucky as you.  I had a tuballigation during my first marriage, after two pragnancies.  I am now 37 and remarried and would like to get pregnant.  I am very nervous because I will have the transfer done on Sat.  The Dr gave me some prog shots to be applied every day for 30 days.  I can't wait.  Since you already went through this, I would really appreciate any advice you could give me.

I had 2 embyros transfer on 6/10 and saw light pink on 6/14 and then started bleeding dark red to brown on 6/18.  i rush over to my doctor and I was told that i have a large cyst on my right ovary and to double my prochieve 8% with bed rest for the rest of the week until 6/23.  I have taken 2 home pregancy test -both neg. and my offical preg. test is on 6/23.  My doctor took blood work from me today and have to return to do more blood work on 6/19. I have had 3 unsuccessful ivf in the pass, but have never felt like this!  Could this be good or bad?

I am 40. I had my first unsuccessful IVF in February 2008. 2 embryos. Prior my pregnancy test in 2 weeks after the transfer, I had no spotting or any kind of discharge. I got my periods in 2-3 days after stopping the progesterone.

In June 2008 I had my second unsuccessful IVF. 3 embryos. Prior my pregnancy test in 10 days, I took home test 2 days before and it was negative. I started to sport on the 9th day (only when I wipe). My progesterone level was 29.  I stopped progesterone shorts when I was informed that I am not pregnant. I got my periods in 3 days.

Right away I am going for my 3re IVF with ZIFT combination. I am stating my Luprone shorts on the 20th day when my periods started. I am praying – the third time is the charm. There are no words to describe my sorrow & grief. But I am doing all my best to stay positive! My husband and I are very optimistic that I would become pregnant this time. My husband was my biggest support, wall and fence!
