Placenta Previa

Hello everyone! I had my 20 wk u/s today and the baby looked great! Weight 12oz and 9" long...right on target. The 3d stuff was so great and got some great pics! The issue is Placenta Previa complete. I was wondering if anyone has been dx and the placenta "moved" as the pregnancy grew? That is the goal to avoid having a c/s. Also, it's the #1 reason for late term bleeding and bed rest after 28 wks! I have a 17 month DD....help! I have another scan at 28 and then weekly at 32 wks. Just wondering anyone been in this situation and their outcome? I had friends with partial and the placenta "moved" however, everyone else had no luck! Oh, another thing...weight gain...I had only gained 2 lbs up to 15 wks and for the last 4 wks I gained 7 lbs!!! No more late night ice cream sundae's!!



Stacie30....Glad to hear everthing went great with your u/s! Sorry, you didn't get to find out the sex. We decided to have the surprise! How is everything else been going? Maybe I should look into to SB diet just to eat healthy!!!

i had placenta previa, where it fully covered. Now at almost 34 weeks it has moved out of the way. When your uterus expands more, it usually pulls away the placenta.

everything else is great. i've had a little trouble sleeping (i think i get up more times in a night than a newborn LOL) and the baby is currently right under my belly button and kicking the heck out of me. it is sooooo cool!!



i was most relieved to find out today that the baby has a healthy urinary system. DH has had a couple of babies in his family be stillborn because they were missing the tubes that connect the kidneys to the bladder... well my little one had the tubes and a full bladder so everything there is aok!! A huge relief for me. I was worried about it... now I'm completely excited/happy about this baby. It's so great!!!



The sex thing- I'll find out eventually (LOL) so I'm trying not to be too bummed out. I think my kids will be bummed when they get home from school. They really wanted to know.

Thanks for sharing...i'm glad to hear your placenta moved. I really don't want to have to have c/s. Did they find yours at your 20 wk u/s and then it moved by the 28 wk? That is what I am hoping for with this one! Did you have any of the bleeding? Anyway..delivery time soon for you..wish you well.

i had 2 previous mc and have hypertention so they watch me very carefully. They found the pevia at my 17 week us. I had an us every 2-3 weeks and it finally moved when she got into position, at 29 weeks. I dont want to have a c-sevtion, but my dr said not to rule it out, with my hbp. So if its not one thing its another. Yeah my time is almost here, cant wait, thanks for the support!!

I am 12 weeks along - on my third pregnancy... although the last was almost 10 years ago.  This one was a surprise.  I just found out I have complete placenta previa.  My doc called Saturday to let me know.  Now I don't meet with him again for 10 more days and I have about a million questions.  I don't know anyone who has had a complete previa... so I went on line looking for information and about made myself crazy.  Can you "outgrow" a complete previa?  Will I end up on bedrest?  Currently - my doc has just said no exercise, no strenous anything, no sex.  I am currently working - trying to decide if it is worth trying to keep working or if I should just try to focus on the pregnancy.  

Any advice...  I would appreciate anything anyone can tell me...

I had a complete placenta previa at 18 weeks. It took a little while but it did "move." They told me the earlier it is diagnosed, the better chance it has of "moving." I too read info on the internet and while research is great, it can also be BAD. Some things on there can really scare you more than what is necessary!

Can't tell you how thankful I am you all have posted about previa--it's a scary thing!  

This is our first pregnancy and we're both "of advanced age" (me 35, hubby 39).  At 15 weeks I woke up at 5 am from a sound sleep to find I had soaked my underwear with blood.  Called the doc's service, doc called me back and told me it sounded like previa.  I went in at 8:30 and had two ultrasounds--external (great sonotech; she zoomed right in on the healthy heartbeat) and then internal to diagnose complete previa.  I was put on bed rest for nine days.  Back to the doc on day nine--no more bleeding, so I was released to go back to work with certain restrictions--limited walking, no exercise, no lifting, and no sex-- unbelievable difficult to adhere to!  I'm now at 18 weeks, and so far so good, but the stress is ridiculous.  My next u/s isn't until July 18.  I'm bummed/concerned about that because what I've read sounds like it should be monitored a bit more frequently.  I have no qualms about a c-section at this point, I just want a healthy baby.  

I know what you mean sfritz about "the internet and while research is great, it can also be BAD."  That's why the personal stories are sometimes better than the medical gloom and doom.  I wish the best to you all, and again, thanks for getting out here and posting!!!
