Getting preg. and having gastric bypass

by latina_love_goddess, Jan 07, 2006 12:00AM
I have had gastric bypass in Nov 2002.  It will be 4 yrs this year.  I had abnormal cycles since I was a teenager and was told I had Hypothyroidism.  Now I am getting checked to see if I have any infertility problems.  If I don't, I still want IVF because I want to hurry, have a baby, get it all done and over with, so I won't be an old mommie, and so I can have a tummy tuck?  Any successfuly gastric bypass mommies out there?

Hello.  I had my gastric bypass on 07/23/04.  I did get pregnant last August but lost the pregnancy and found out the baby had anencephaly which caused me to panic whether or not I was absorbing enough of my prenatal vitamins.  I would recommend that you have a good set of labs ran to test your absorption of b12 and folic acid this way you can avoid the possibility of neural tube defects.  I am on prescription strength folic acid now so that my body is at a good level for me to try again in March.  I wish you the best!
