Thanks for the response. His dermatologist did do a biopsy on him. It came back as impetigo infection. But would that spread all over the body? I'm not sure it would cause all of this itching either. Dr did change his antibiotic, in case he was allergic, but doesn't seem to be helping. He has a follow-up appt Dec 6th. Will see what they think then. But ringworm was ruled out. I had no idea how long it takes to treat something like this. All I know is he is in a lot of discomfort from the itching, and has been living on Benadryl for months. They also prescribed this cream, Triamcinolone Acetonide. Is this safe to use on such a widespread area? Thanks. I will keep you posted.
Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be nummular dermatitis or ringworm. Nummular dermatitis is a sort of eczema and allergic reaction is an important cause. Take some antihistaminic like Benadryl or Claritin and apply some calamine lotion on the rash. Also wear cotton clothes and keep the skin sweat free. If the symptoms persist then please get it examined from a dermatologist. KOH examination of the skin scrapings will rule out fungal infection.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
