low white blood cell count, low total antibodies, low immune defiecentcy levels

by nej, Apr 28, 2006 12:00AM
my husband and i have had our daughter in the hospital twice for pneounia i think i spelled it wrong. she has had it 3 times and she is 20 months old. we are very concerned and we have had her to university hospital in syracuse for intense blood work because she has been so sick and no one has any idea of what is going on. a series of tests have been done including her white blood cell count which is low, her immune defiency which is also low, her total antibody level is alittle low. some of the tests have not come back yet. her sinues also give her a problem. they think all this could be allergy related. at times she acts very tired and she does not sleep good through the night. she is up alot. if anyone has any comments they would like to share or any suggestions we would be interested in them. we realize nobody is a dr. but feedback would be great.the doctors are puzzled because with her just being in the hospital her white blood cell count should be high and it isnt.

my grandson is having the same problems, long story short mom donated blood, blood bank found htlv 1 and 2 virus. it is passed through breastfeeding and is not tested for or diagnosed because it is rare. it is an immune deficancey and we are testing the baby now, i think he has it and if his mother had not donated blood they would still be telling us it is allergies, and yes he is 2years old and gets allergy shots twice a week. good luck you may want to check this out and see if this applies to you.
