Tg and TgAb results...finally!

by MJ13, Feb 13, 2007 12:00AM
After waiting since last Wednesday, I finally got my results for my first thyroglobulin (Tg) and TgAb today.  Today was the fifth day in a row I called to get my results...I was getting very peturbed.  Anyway...the good news is my Tg was 1.8 and they want it to be <2.0 for someone with a TT.  However, my TgAb was 42,  which has been increasing the last few times.  Amything over 40 is considered high.  One of my endos said that if the TgAb goes over 90 then they can't use the Tg test as a tumor marker.  This all makes me wonder why my TgAb is increasing.  Dumb question...but does having been diagnosed with Graves Disease have anything to do with it?? If they can't use the Tg test, how do they determine if cancer has come back in the future???  Not really too worried...but something that makes me go...hmmmmmm????

Hey,
I feel your pain about the whole waiting and calling for answers.  I think that was one of the worst parts about cancer - having to wait - and then calling when the doc says to call and they don't have the results and calling back  the next day and the next and the next - and hearing the sound of aggravation in the nurse's voice!! ;>)
Glad that your thyroglobulin was under 2 - that is good.  I can't help much with the other stuff but just wanted to say that I get it!
