Frequent bowel movements

by foxykim33, Jul 03, 2006 12:00AM
I just made 32 weeks a couple days ago and for the past week or so I've been having frequent bowel movements 5-6 times a day. I'm not constipated nor do I have diarrhea. I'm just confused and wondering what this could be. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

well I am 36 weeks and 5 days and this has been happening to me for a few weeks.  I understand it is not diar. or const. it is just often.  I learned in my child birthing class that this is a sign that things are progressing along normally.  Sometimes I feel liket he baby moves and then I gotta go.  I was also wondering why this is going on and I did browse and seen where a woman said hers was due to having group b strep...if I remember correctly.  I just had my test for that and have not gottent he results so.......we'll see.  Sorry I couldn't help more just letting you know I am there with ya.

In Jenny McCarthy's book "Belly Laughs: The Naked Truth About Pregnancy And Childbirth", there is a chapter in which she discusses her fear of having a bowel on the delivery table.  Her doctor informs her that although this is a common occurance, it is also common for the body to perform a sort of "self cleansing" upon going into labor, and that "it can be a warning that labor will start soon if your bowels become more active."

I'm not a doctor, but I would keep this in mind especially for women approaching the 38 week mark, as this is know as "full term" pregnancy.
