What is the difference between  levothyroxine and tapazole-same dosage?

They are actually 2 very different medicines.  Levothyroxine is synthetic thyroid hormone so it is used for people who have underactive thyroids or have had their thyroids removed.  Tapazole is an anti-thyroid drug (ATD) and it is used for people who have overactive thyroids - it actually supresses the thyroid hormone release mechanism.   They are not interchangeable.  I hope this helps.

Hey Ya'll!
I have a question. If your synthroid is increased or decreased, should you waita  few days before taking the new dose? (I have no thyroid) and am on levothyroxine. We were doinga  test run for a week to increase the levothyroxine but decided that maybe we needed to lower it back. I wasj ust curious. And no, I have not been back to Doc yet, I am going Thursday. But I was just wondering.
