Should I do it just in case?

by Me2mommy2b, Nov 29, 2006 12:00AM
Hello.  We came back from our dr's appt and our baby got her shots today (two months visit).  The dr suggested to give DD Tylenol in case fever develops.  Should I give it to her regardless?  Or should I not bother with it unless I absolutely have to give it to her?  Also, she's kinda cranky and drowsy, is this a normal reaction to the shots? Thank you.

I would go ahead and give it to her at least before you put her to sleep.  It does make them sore and cranky to have shots and if you give it to her before it starts she might not have any symptoms at all instead of waking up in the middle of the night sore and crying.

I always gave my children tylenol before there appt. to have it in their systems. But with both of my boys, they would sleep most of the day after their shots. But I would give your DD tylenol if you feel she is having any discomfort, it won't hurt her. Hope this is helpful

I gave my son tylenol as soon as he got the shots and the every 4 hours well it prevents the fever.  Thats what my Dr told me to do.

I gave both my DD and DS tylenol about 30 minutes before the app. that was it was already in their system and they also slept most of that day.

Hi, We had our visit on Monday. I gave her tylenol right there in the office and then every 4hours after for the first 2 days. She is great now. Drowsy, yes she was, she slept a lot. I actually gave her a bottle that night so that she was sure to get a full feeding and good sleep. (nice having them sleep isn't it?) HA HA

Yeah, for the first time in a long, long while she didn't scream all day long.  I felt bad though when she was being pricked with a needle.  My DH always looks away (coward, LOL).
