Low hormones would show a pregnancy in a blood test

by Myra_956, Mar 30, 2007 12:00AM
The last day of my last period was on Dec. 24th, since then i have not gotten my period and it is now the 30th of March. I had a urine preg. test done in early Feb and it came negative, i took another in early March, and negative as well. I took another one at a family planning clinic on the 27th of March and the lady told me that it was  a faint negative. but she asked me what i had been feeling....my response was.... sharp pulse in the breasts, light pulses under my belly button area, cramps but i dont get my period, i pee more often, light nausea, dizziness and i've eaten more and a while ago i'd say about a month i was told i had a light thyroid. according to that, my hormones are low. well she told me to take another test like a sonogram. i had gone to another clinic else where, the dr. just touched me abdomen area and felt all around, he told me i was 9 weeks preg. without doing any sonogram or anything and gave me vitamins and some medication for pain. he ordered some lab work to check my cholestorl and all the other goodies in my system, so i as i got there for the results he told me that i wasn't pregnant. my question to this is would the fact be that if i have low hormones would it still show in the blood test??

Your story sounds  confusing to me. I couldnt imagine how you might feel. I would say that by 9 weeks, you should be able to see a positive blood test and urine test. I would ask for an ultrasound to make sure. Seeing is believing. Well to me at least in this case.

The fact that you have low hormones is a good explanation for the lack of a period.  The hormones regulate your period, and if they are wacked, so will your period......The dr. CANNOT diagnose pregnancy by feeling your abdomen.  That's ridiculous that he told you that.  The blood work says negative, and I would highly trust it.
