7 Month Old Baby Not Teething

by fearfactor, Apr 02, 2007 12:00AM
My 7 month old daughter has not gotten a tooth yet and as far as I can tell, she isn't teething at all.  She does seem a bit more grouchy the last couple of days and isn't eating as well, and she's not sick (no fever or anything).  She will bite on a teether if you give her one, but she's been doing it for a while.  I know most babies get a tooth around 5 months, why hasn't my daughter teethed yet?  Our first baby got teeth around 5 months.

I don't have any kids yet, but my questions is was she born early or something, like premature?  Saying this because that would make her not a old or something as a true 7 month old.  Just a thought.  If not I would have no clue, like I said no kids for me yet, 3 weeks to go till my delivery.

both of my 2 ds's ate their 1st year birthday cake  TOOTHLESS!  they say the longer for the 1st teeth to come in, the better, and so far neither boy has any cavities....or teeth problems.  don't worry, soon enough their will be teeth.

My niece did not get a single tooth until she was 13 months old and then she got 4 all at once...poor kid!  It may be worth mentioning to your pediatrician, but I think that all kids develop at their own rate.

My kids both got theirs around 8 months. Count your blessings. It is supposed to be genetic--were you, siblings, parents late teethers? We had minimal drooling, little pain with both---just one morning a little crying and out popped a tooth!

Don't worry too much about it. My 14 month old is just now getting her first tooth. The pediatrician told me and my hubby that the later they come in the better because they're stronger. Hope all goes well. Best Wishes

My ds was 8.5 months.

My DD was 15 mos old when we saw the first tooth finally cut through.

My Doctor told me that some don't even cut teeth until 18 months and some cut teeth at 4 months, thats when my daughter did and she already has 6! Crazy, but every child is different, so yours will cut teeth soon!

My husband cut his first tooth at 3 months old.  Our daughter didnt get her first tooth until she was 11 months old and she is currently 13 months old and still only has her two bottom teeth.

Thanks everyone!  Our little girl is small, but she was full-term.  Our first baby was a big, hearty baby and she got her first tooth at 5 months but we found out she has "hypoplastic" teeth and we've already had to have 2 of them capped even though she has had great dental hygiene since the beginning.  So, maybe if the teeth are delayed a bit they will come in and be healthier!  I just wanted to make sure she was OK!

Hey to be honest the older they are when they cut teeth the better the teeth will be....

Dont stress it. Some children get their teeth later, and thats okay. Less time for you to have to worry about brushing their little pearly whites.

My son did not have his first tooth until he was about 7 to 7 1/2 months old even though he was very cranky, drooling, etc.. couple of months before his first tooth came out. My niece did not have her first tooth until when she turned 1 yr. old or older. My other niece started having her first tooth at 4 months old. So please don't worry. Each child develops differently in terms of mentally and physically. Best of luck
