ALMOST 12 WEEKS SINCE LMP AND NO BABY IN GESTATIONAL SAC

MY NAME IS AMY.  I AM 26.  JUST GOT MARRIED AND ALREADY HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER.  I AM NOW ON MY SECOND PREGNANCY.  MY LMP WAS 1/16 AND I TOOK MY FIRST HOME PREGNANCY TEST ON 2/10 AND IT WAS NEGATIVE.   THEN I TOOK ANOTHER ONE ON 2/17 AND IT WAS POSITIVE.  WENT TO THE STORE AND GOT 2 MORE.  2ND ONE WAS POSITIVE AGAIN.  I WAITED ANOTHER DAY AND TOOK THE LAST ONE JUST TO MAKE SURE AND IT WAS POSITIVE.  ONE WEEK LATER MY MEDICAL DOCTOR CONFIRMED IT. I WENT TO THE OBGYN ON 4/2/07 FOR MY FIRST PRENATAL VISIT SINCE FINDING OUT I WAS PREGNANT.   THEY GAVE ME AN ESTIMATED OF ALMOST 11 WEEKS 5 DAYS.  NOW I AM SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE 12TH WEEK.  SINCE I THOUGHT I WAS ACTUALLY LESS THEN THAT I ASKED TO GET AN ULTRASOUND JUST TO CHECK DATES.   AFTER WAITING IN THE ROOM FOR AN HOUR SHE COMES IN AND DOES A VAGINAL U/S AND WE SEE THE SAC, BUT THERE IS NO BABY IN THERE.  SHE MEASURES THE SAC BUT DOESNT SAY ANYTHING TO ME.   INSTEAD SHE HAS ME GO TO THE HOSPITAL AND GET MY BLOOD DRAWN TO CHECK MY HORMONE LEVELS FOR THE NEXT 3 DAYS TO SEE IF THEY PROGRESS.   TODAY WAS THE SECOND BLOOD DRAWN BUT I HAVENT HEARD ANYTHING BACK YET.  I AM FREAKING OUT.  I PRETTY MUCH TOLD MYSELF THERE IS NO BABY.  WITH MY FIRST THE BABY WAS 8 WEEKS AND WE SAW HER PERFECTLY FINE.  I DID HAVE SORE BREASTS IN THE BEGINNING BUT NOTHING NOW.  I DONT HAVE MORNING SICKNESS, BUT MUCH NAUSEA.  I NEVER HAD MORNING SICKNESS WITH MY FIRST EITHER.  I HAVE HAD NO BLEEDING AND SLIGHTS CRAMPS.  MY QUESTION IS, BECAUSE I AM SUPPOSEDLY FARTHER ALONG THEN MOST PEOPLE I HAVE READ ON HERE WITH THE SAME ISSUE, HAS ANYONE BEEN THIS FAR WITHOUT SEEING THE BABY AND THEN YOU DO HAVE A HEALTHY PREGNANCY?   MY NERVES ARE SHOT. I CRY WHEN NO ONE IS LOOKING.  I AM AN EMOTIONAL WRECK.

I'm so sorry for you.  I went in at 11 weeks and there was just an empty sac, that was back in June.  In my case there was no baby.  By that far along you should be able to clearly see a tiny baby, and it should be pretty easy to find with an abdominal u/s, a vaginal one would be even easier to locate.  I don't want to make you feel bad, maybe you are not as far as you thought, but with both of my other pregnancies that went on just fine, I was able to see a baby as early as 6 weeks and at 9 weeks the baby was pretty well developed and easy to see.  Good luck, I hope it gets better for you, take care of yourself and hug your little one.  If you do end up with a m/c though, keep trying.  I got pregnant the very next month and just delivered a healthy little boy last Friday.  Feel better.

THANKS.  THAT WAS MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY.  WE SHOULD SEE A BABY IN THERE IF I AM THAT FAR ALONG.   EVEN IF I AM NOT 12 WEEKS.  I SHOULD BE ABOUT 8 WITH THE PREGNANCY TEST COMING BACK POSITIVE WHEN IT DID, SAYING I GOT PREGNANT A COUPLE DAYS BEFORE TAKING IT...HIGHLY UNLIKELY.  I GET ANOTHER BLOOD DRAWN TOMORROW AND THEN ON THURSDAY SEE THE DOCTOR AGAIN TO CHECK AND SEE IF ANYTHING CHANGED.   I AM CONFUSED AT WHY I NEVER BLEED OR HAD ANY CRAMPS.  I SEEN THAT ALOT OF PEOPLE GOING THROUGH THE SAME THING WERE BLEEDING.   I STILL FEEL VERY SENSTIVE IN MY LOWER AREA LIKE I AM PREGNANT.  I URINTATE ALL THE TIME.  ANYTHING NASTY LOOKING OR SMELLING WILL MAKE ME THROW UP, BUT NO REAL MORNING SICKNESS.  I CRY ON SOME OF THE STUPIDEST MOVIES OR SHOWS THAT I WOULDNT NORMALLY.  I AM SO CONFUSED?   I NEVER THROUGHT SOMETHING LIKE THIS WOULD HAPPEN.  WE HAD BEEN TRYING EVERYDAY FOR 5 MONTHS UNTIL I SUPPOSEDLY GOT PREGNANT, NOW IF I AM NOT I CANT BARE TO DO IT AGAIN AND GO THROUGH THE PREGNANCY TESTS THAT SAY "NEGATIVE"

Hi! Sorry you have to go thru this. I myself went thru what you're experiencing. I had my LMP jan 8 and when I went thru a transvaginal u/s at 5w1d we only saw an empty gestational sac. I went again for a 2nd u/s at 7w5d but still no baby. I got so worried and so confused because I didn't have spotting/bleeding and no cramping at all. I went to see another doc for a 2nd opinion at 9 wks but only to hear bad news... still no baby and the sac was starting to have an irregular shape... a blighted ovum. I opted to go for a d&c bec. it looked as though I'm not going to m/c on my own soon and I want closure so that I could start again sooner. I had my d&c last march 27. Until now I'm still feeling a little depressed bec. this is my third loss.

I'm sorry if my story added to your worry but I'm praying for you that somehow what you are experiencing is not the same as mine and you finally see your baby on your next checkups. Who knows... nothing is impossible if God wants it to happen. And if not, I'm sure something much more wonderful is in store for you.

I had the same thing happen to me also but it was at 9w and my sac measured 6w2d and there was nothing in it.  They told me I had a blighted ovum - sac and no baby.  The baby got to a certain point and died - very early on.  I was spotting at the time and chose to wait just to make sure that there was no baby in there.  I ended up having a m/c.  Get another u/s and get all the info that you can from your drs.

I'm so sorry your going through this, the wait is so hard.  I've had 2 blighted ovums (Oct.06, March 07) were they didn't see the baby in the sac.  I had no bleeding with the 2nd one until several weeks after the diagnoses.  Hopefully your not as far along as you think.  Again I know waiting to find out what is going on is just so frusterating and nervwracking!  When do you go in again for another ultrasound?  Have you gotten you hcg levels back for the 2nd test, if so were they rising?  Hang in there!

first off i want to say sorry about your u/s .. im going through the same thing right now .i went on 03/26 for my first u/s at 9wk2d and they found the sac and no baby , then they reschedule another appt for 04/02 but i had to go in a couple days early due to cramping and the u/s confirmed that i was a blighted ovum . and the doctor told me to wait a week to see if i miscarry on my own and last night i started to m/c ! I really hope that things work out in your favor .and i know its a very hard thing to do . just know that God has a plan for everyone ! good luck with your next u/s !

I have been reading these posts most of the afternoon.  I am pregnant for my first time.  I went in at 6wk2ds from what the doctor said but the gestational sack only measured 5 weeks.  There was nothing in it?  Is this normal at 5 weeks?

I am going back this Friday the 6th for another ultrasound and I should be 8 wk2ds and I am praying to see the heartbeat.

I am nervous person naturally so I am sure you all can imagine what a wreck I am.  

I have had no bleeding but some minor cramping?  

Does anyone know if this is normal?

Last question, I am confused how the gestational sack can measure 5 weeks but they put me at 6wk2ds?

How do they measure that?

WELL I GO TO THE HOSPITAL HERE IN AN HOUR TO GET MY LAST BLOOD DRAWN.  WILL BE THE 48 HOUR ONE SINCE THE FIRST.   I CALLED THE DOCTORS OFFICE EARIER TODAY AND THEY STILL HADNT GOT THE RESULTS BACK FROM THE SECOND ONE.  PRETTY MUCH TOLD ME THEY WILL LET ME KNOW ON THURSDAY ONCE I COME IN FOR MY NEXT DOCTORS VISIT.  I AM SO UPSET WITH THIS DOCTORS OFFICE THAT I HAVE DECIDED AFTER THURSDAY NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY IS GOING ON THAT I AM GETTING A SECOND OPINION WITH ANOTHER DOCTOR AND GET RID OF THAT ONE.   SO I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE MY LEVELS ARE AT RIGHT NOW.  THAT JUST MAKES IT MORE FRUSTRATING FOR ME.   I STILL HAVE NO BLEEDING AND NO REAL BAD CRAMPING.  I HOPE MY DATES ARE OFF TOO.  MAYBE I CONCEIVED AT THE RIGHT TIME BUT COULD THE BABY TAKE LONGER TO COME DOWN FOR SOME PEOPLE?  I KNOW IT WOULD HAVE BEEN AROUND 2/11 AT THE LATEST BEFORE I GOT THE POSITIVE PREGNANCY TEST ON 2/17.  I DONT FEEL LIKE I AM M/C, SO I DONT KNOW.  DOCTORS ARE SO UPSETTING.  I GUESS I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THURSDAY TO SEE WHAT THEY SAY

i got my ultrasound done today and my blood work back.   on 4/2 it was 40,000   then 4/3 went to 43,000 and yesterday was 48 hours and it was 49,000.  doctor says when you get that high it usually doesnt double.  my sac is measuring at 6 to 7 weeks and still no baby on u/s, so less than i thought.  she says baby could be a late bloomer, but if it really isnt there that in 10 days i should m/s on my own.  on 4/16 we have another u/s scheduled to see again if i don't m/s.  so far no bleeding or cramping still at this time.  it's confusing, but since sac is measuring 6 to 7 weeks i am a little more hopeful then i was before.  also with my hormone levels being so high.  we'll see what happens.

hi i am 5 weeks pregnant and had spotting in the beginning and now have cramps. My Dr. sent me to go get a vaginal ultrasound done i went there was the sac but no baby!! is it to soon to see the baby still?? i have to go in 2 weeks and get another ultrasound done. this is my second pregnancy my first one was fine except i threw up all day!! and with this pregnancy i have all the sympthoms i have even thrown up. what should i think?
