PVCs and unsustained VT

by slyder13, Jun 18, 2007 07:11PM
How dangerous is unsustained VT in a structurally normal heart?  I have posted a few questions on here and you guys have been great.  I had all the tests for my PVCs Echo, Stress, 24 holter, and ECG.  I was about to get a clean bill of health other than 300 to 500 annoying PVCs a day when, my complaining prompted the cardiologist to do a 30 day holter.  This suddenly comes up with strings of PVCs.  The nurse wouldn't tell me what they found but did slip that I would have several PVCs in a row.  So I was forwarded to a Electrophysiologist.  So are a string of PVCs 3 or more VT?  Is this dangerous?
Background 30 year old male, slightly overweight, slightly elevated bp, very active. No medications as of yet.

Thanks for the answers and reassurace.

I believe the docs on the Ask-A-Doc forum listed on the main page of this forum have said that unsustained VT in a healthy heart is not dangerous.

The question comes up pretty regularly. Most recent is on the expert "Heart Rhythm" forum. The thread title is "VT on Holter" and the doctor answered it on June 5th. To find this expert forum just scroll down the right side of this page and you'll see related expert forums. Click on heart rhythm and you'll find the message there.
