very swolen testicle and blood in seman

my boyfriend told me the other night he had some blood in his sperm.  I didn't like it when he told me he wouldnt get it checked out.  He then told me today to feel his very swolen testical.  Said it kinda hurt.  Also he has to urinate more often.  Please tell me I am not crazy to beg him to go to the doctor.

Over age 35, non-sexually transmitted bacteria become increasingly likely as the cause of epididymitis; but of course the likelihood of STD depends on risk factors and exposure.  Testicular cancer is an unlikely cause of blood in semen or of sudden onset of testicular pain and swelling.  And prostate infections don't cause testicular swelling.

Whatever else happens, make your boyfriend see a health care provider; and if there is any doubt in your mind about his risks or yours for STD, get checked yourself for gonorrhe aand chlamydia.  Why mess around with a potentially serious risk?  And don't try to come up with a definite answer online.

Hi, He could have an infection of the epididymitis.He also could have a prostate infection,or the making of one.I would get him to have a PSA blood test done,also a mannual check on prostate and also testicles.This would rule out the more serious problems and well be just an infection,which can be clear up.Get checked ASAP.Good luck.

he is 35 and I have been told to have him checked for testicular cancer.  Would you recommend that also?  At that age do you think it could be a std?

This sounds like epididymitis, an infection of the testicle. It can be dangerous if not treated promptly.   Epididymitis in young men almost always is due to chlamydia or gonorrhea, i.e. he has an STD--so you need to be checked as well.  Do it right away.
